During my first summer in my county cottage I enthusiastically threw myself into gardening, hoping to reap the rewards of all my efforts with endless supplies of fresh organic veggies. Sadly however, the slugs and snails had the same idea, feasting happily on all my greens. Another feature of my summer has been the deer I that see every morning in the wood behind my cottage – I wanted to include a muntjac deer in the print but as I began to draw he took on a life of his own – his own ‘deerness’ unlike any other.
