Bring us the straightforward jobs. Bring us the difficult ones too.

What can we frame? Almost anything.

For normal-sized pieces, bring them into Primrose and we can look at the framing options with you. If the work is very large, heavy or awkward, contact us first — Primrose is a small gallery and some pieces are better assessed directly at the On The Edge workshop.

Examples of bespoke picture framing

Large & technically demanding work

From small keepsakes to artwork approaching 3 metres × 3 metres

Some of the work we take on is far beyond normal picture-frame dimensions. Large pieces need careful thought about weight, mounting, glazing, structural strength, handling and installation.

Primrose is a small gallery, so very large work cannot always be safely unpacked and assessed there. For oversized, heavy or technically complicated pieces, we will normally ask you to deal directly with our On The Edge workshop in Market Harborough, where we have the space and equipment to handle the work properly.

Personal advice, not a production line

Framing designed around your artwork

There is rarely one frame that is right for everything. We will help you compare mouldings, mount colours and glazing options until we find a combination that works with the artwork, where it will hang, your taste and your budget.

You do not need to arrive knowing what you want. Helping you choose is part of the service.

For valuable, sentimental or delicate pieces we can also advise on conservation materials and specialist glazing.

A few common questions

Picture framing FAQs

Do I need an appointment?

Usually not for normal-sized work. Bring it into Primrose during opening hours and we can look at the options with you. For very large, heavy or complicated pieces, contact us first because the work may need to go directly to On The Edge.

How much does bespoke framing cost?

The cost depends on size, moulding, mount, glazing and complexity. Once we have seen the piece and agreed the design, we can give you a clear price.

Can you frame something unusual?

Very probably. We frame far more than conventional pictures. Bring it in or contact us with a photograph and approximate dimensions.

What is the largest artwork you can frame?

We have experience with work approaching 3 metres × 3 metres. Projects of this scale need to be discussed before the piece is transported.

Can you frame football shirts and memorabilia?

Yes. Shirts, medals and other memorabilia are a regular part of our work.

Can you stretch canvases?

Yes. We can stretch canvases onto bespoke stretcher frames and advise on traditional framing, tray frames or leaving the stretched canvas unframed.

Where is my frame made?

All Primrose framing is made at our specialist On The Edge workshop in Market Harborough. Normal-sized work can be discussed and dropped off at Primrose, then returned to Primrose for collection when complete.
