Collection: Olivia Wilson
I am a mixed media artist working with experimental textile techniques and eco-pigments. Through a combination of wall hangings, sculpture, and film, I weave together sensitively gathered natural and manmade elements to create new colours, forms, and meanings. My practice is rooted in an exploration of human connection to place and healing. I am drawn to capturing powerful moments of stillness and presence, those fleeting, transformative experiences that arise when we truly immerse ourselves in the natural world.
My work often reflects landscapes imbued with memory and observational pieces of native flora and fauna. Each piece acts as a visual meditation, inviting the viewer into a deeper sense of connection with the world around them.
I recently completed an MA in Fine Art at Falmouth University (2023–2025), where I developed my practice further, delving into theories of nature connectedness and vegetal ontology. This research deepened my understanding of the complex relationships between humans and the natural world and continues to inform the material and conceptual aspects of my work.
Alongside my practice, I work as a Lecturer of Art & Design, continuing my passion for creative education and supporting the next generation of artists and designers. Previously, I lectured at Coventry University, supporting trainee teachers, and taught Art and Design in secondary education for over 17 years.
