Collection: Linda Johns
Linda moved to Northamptonshire while she was at Central Saint Martins School of Art (part of the University of the Arts London) and has lived here ever since. She graduated with a BA(Hons) Fine Art in 2003, specialising in sculpture. She has exhibited her sculptures and drawings across the UK and has been a Member of the Royal Society of Sculptors (MRSS) for many years. Linda has had many sculptures included in public displays and has a permanent public art sculpture in Milton Keynes (part of the Gyosei Art Trail).
Inspiration is from the human figure, mythology, nature and science (particularly quantum physics). Linda works with found natural materials and metals (mostly wire) and sees her whole art practice as a kind of drawing - she sculpts a ‘form’ in plaster or clay, then works with lengths of wire to create ephemeral 3-dimensional drawings. Capturing the energy of her intense art practice in the final sculptures, these appear fragile but are actually surprisingly robust.
