Adrian Teal is an internationally renowned caricaturist, cartoonist, illustrator, and writer.
He was the principal designer of caricature puppets for the return of the hugely popular 1980s/1990s satirical TV show, Spitting Image, both on stage and on screen. He also served as head of 3D celebrity caricature design for the award-winning ITV show Big Heads and has caricatured for The Masked Singer.
Adrian has been a caricature consultant for Framestore and BBC2, produced covers, and written and illustrated historical spreads for BBC’s QI books. Additionally, he has contributed illustrations for QI merchandise, marketing materials, and the TV show itself.
He has competed in the internationally renowned ArtPrize competition in the USA, where he entered a six-by-eight-foot caricature painting depicting the history of America’s most famous emblems. His historical articles have been published in The Lancet and History Today.
His freelance illustration clients include Madness, Mercedes-Benz, UBS, Jongleurs comedy club, and Anglia TV. He has created illustrations and political cartoons for national and international publications such as The Sunday Telegraph, Penthouse, The Scotsman, The Times, The Guardian, Time Out, The Sun, and The Daily Mail. He regularly provides cartoons for History Today and has written about eighteenth-century satire for the magazine.
Regarding his caricature work, Adrian has appeared on several British TV channels, including BBC1, Channel 5, and Sky One. He also contributes illustrations and content to Dr. Lindsey Fitzharris’s YouTube series Under the Knife, which humorously explores medical history through a mix of traditional documentary, CG animation, and artwork.
Together with Lindsey, Adrian has authored an illustrated, nonfiction children’s book titled Plague-busters!, published by Bloomsbury USA in October 2023. Their second children’s book for Bloomsbury, Dead Ends!, is scheduled for release in October 2025.
Adrian’s fine art caricature paintings, drawings, and limited-edition prints are collected by clients worldwide.
