high quality picture framing
Picture framing is quite personal, so here at Primrose Gallery in Thrapston and in Northampton, we work with you to select the most appropriate materials and methods to frame your artwork. That’s whether you bought it from us, or elsewhere.
You might want something modern for instance, or plain in a Farrow & Ball paint colour, or a traditional heavy gilt frame. We have a range of choice, including handmade and hand finished solutions, as well as gold and silver leaf prestige frames.
There are numerous ranges of mouldings, decorative wood fillets, and mount cards in every shade and thickness imaginable to choose from. But don’t worry, as our friendly and knowledgeable staff will assist you in choosing the right frame components to complement the artwork.
Professional framing for private collectors and corporate art
We firmly believe that being a professional picture framer comes down to just six things: superb quality materials, a proper working knowledge, vast experience in the art of framing, investing in the right equipment, excellent customer service, and charging a fair price.
For starters, we only use the finest materials, from the very best suppliers. As qualified picture framers, we know which materials are appropriate to use in any given situation – we never over-spec or under-spec. As a default standard, we use clear glass and not the cheaper green stuff that some framers use. This will ensure the clarity of the image. There are other choices of course, some of which reduce glare and filter out up to 98% of UV light.
We can frame to every level including conservation, exhibition and museum standards. Equally, we are used to working with items of all value, high to low, so you can be assured your art works are safe in our hands. Being fully conversant with the exacting requirements of conservation framing, we’ll explain to you what is required to protect your painting or print fully, whether it be pure cotton rag mounting boards, correct tapes or hinges, or specialty UV filtering glazing.
It should reassure you to know that all of our staff are highly skilled and trained, with most being Fine Art Trade Guild ‘Commended Picture Framers’. Four are also artists in their own right, and three are art graduates. Whilst our framing department is now in its 18th year, the majority of our framing team have in fact spent most of their lives in the trade. Our collective picture framing experience adds up to well over 100 years!
Investing in our equipment
One of the reasons our framers can produce such good work for you is because we also invest in the best quality equipment. For example, we have a Gunnar computerised mount cutting machine, regarded as the ‘Mercedes’ of all the machine options. Alongside that, our SpeedMount cutter allows us to cut oversized 3.5mm boards with ease.
Most of our work these days comes from repeat business and recommendations, which should speak volumes. We’ve been told that part of this is due to our good, old-fashioned customer service. Whether you’re a private or corporate customer, you can expect the same friendly, polite and reliable service, time and time again.
A fair price
Despite our attention to detail and our approach to quality and customer care, we know that we are not the most expensive picture framer by far! We’ve been told that, somewhat surprisingly, we offer better value than some of our main competitors in Northamptonshire. Why not come in and get a FREE quote.
No job is too big or too small. If all you require is a mount for your own frame, you are just as welcome as a company or an artist needing 100 frames for an exhibition.
It seems people are prepared to travel a long way for the right pictures framers too – our customers come from all over Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Warwickshire, and even further afield.
